Gasoline price downturn accelerates
Friday, October 10, 2008
Central Valley Business Times -- Gasoline prices are continuing to drop – now for the 16th straight week, according to price surveys.

This past week, pump prices fell a penny per day across most of California, with the drop thought to be related to world economic troubles and a resulting lower demand for gasoline pushing down crude oil prices.

"At the start of September, local gas prices were $1 higher compared to 2007; now, prices are just 50 cents higher than this time last year," says Jeffrey Spring, a spokesman for the Automobile Club of Southern California.

"This week, the Oklahoma state average price became the first to drop below $3 a gallon during this national downturn in gas prices."

conserving gas is the way to go, a few cents a gallon doesn't help much.

This guy will never lose his will to conserve. Even if it's $1.00 / gallon, still costing me money.

I can hardly wait until gas prices drop under $2.50 a gallon.

They should be below $3.00 now.

I'll cheer when the gas prices drop to a reasonable US$1.99/gallon. Wonder how long it will take?

This morning the pump price here is $2.33 to $2.69, still needs to go down about another 50 cents.. (everyone would be happy).

In northern VA, the price at the pump is dropping every day...except diesel.

CamryCheapster is right...we still have to conserve, or the price will go back up again.

I just hope people don't lose the will to conserve with the lower prices.

If we continue to use less the pressure on the prices will continue downward.

I would like to see it go down even further. But, with colder weather just around the corner, I feel we are going to see a rise in the price at the pump.

Gas will go up after the election, no matter who wins. If McBush wins, the oil companies will know they have a free ride for another 4 years and if Barak Obama wins, oil companies will have to get in one more gouging before things change.

Price will continue to fall as long as demand is not there to sustain the high price of gasoline.

It's been nice to see and now that our supplies are more stable in the south, we are finally seeing it drop to the averages seen in other parts of the country.

I can't believe we are "happy" about gas at $3.00/gallon. But it's relative. It sure beats $4.00 (and for us who drive a diesel, it got to $5.00 - It's now 3.80. It's still cheaper to drive per mile, than my gas pickup, and pulls more)
