Sounds like a conspiracy to me! Even if diesel demand is higher than gas, with the price of oil dramatically decreasing over the past four months, you'd think diesel prices would have decreased somewhat more rapidly than they have. If the Big Oil's refineries are producing more gas than diesel, at who's direction? More importantly, why? To artificially keep diesel at a higher price because every convenience using diesel fuel (trains/tracker trailers, etc...) which transports everything from food stuffs, automobiles, building supplies, etc...indirectly keeps their prices elevated as well. If we didn't need these basic necessities to survive, maybe we could drive down the price for diesel fuel by reducing our dependence on it, but many of us are already struggling as it is!

trains are expanding tracks everywhere. more efficient diesel engines are less than a year out. we must always go to the cheapest stations

diesel has gone down, just not as much as gas.
Part of the problem is, demand for diesel has not gone down much. The demand for gas has gone down more then the demand for diesel.
Refineries can not simply produce more diesel fuel and less gasoline. Because you get X gallons of diesel and Y gallons of gasoline per bl. of oil. The demand for gas is down, the demand for diesel is not down as much.

Delivery trucks and semi's can't not run. They don't have to drop the price. You can't deliver groceries on mass transit systems or with shorter trips.

I find it strange that the needs for diesel in Europe effect the price of diesel in Canada so much. If that were true it would also effect the price of our gas.
Does Canada export diesel to Europe and if so would that be enough to effect our price in this country?
I have always heard that it is cheaper to produce diesel. Has that changed in Canada?

Diesel is way too high PG, it needs to drop much more.
Diesel is not as ‘stinky’ anymore – there is additional refining to remove the sulfur that makes it stank before….

On a daily basis, I deal with agricultural producers and suppliers, and I have distant family members that are independent owner-operator truck drivers. I see firsthand how much the high cost of diesel fuel impacts the price of EVERYTHING. Regardless of what it is, it takes expensive diesel fuel to grow it or make it, deliver it, etc.
Remember: If you ate it, thank a farmer; if you bought it, thank a trucker; and if you can read this, thank a soldier!

With the drastic drops with regular gas prices, it is obvious that stations are profiting with diesel from commercial users. They have very little choice regarding to lowering their demands. Perhaps we should boycott stations with outrageously high diesel prices.

I'm not seeing it. Sure, diesel is priced higher than gas. However, out here, I'm seeing diesel well under $2.50/gal. So yes, it is going down, just not as fast as gasoline.

10 years ago, diesel was 10-20 cents cheaper than gas.
That price parity was key to diesel adoption in the 80s.
Modern auto diesels are just as clean (if not cleaner is some circumstances) than their gasoline counterparts.
Diesel holds more energy and diesel engines are FAR more flexible running on anything.
Having a farm, I've run my diesels on: rancid butter, cooking oil, homemade biodiesel, pond scum extract.
A more flexible combustion system allows for more altenative fuels.

Diesel comsumption is not as easy to curve as gasoline consumption. Most of the diesel trucks/trains and boat engines out there are delivering product. They can not combine trips or drive much less than they already do.

Diesel IS going down. We aren't paying close to $5/Gallon like we were not so long ago.
The Eastern US and it appears Canada are still paying upwards of $3.00/Gallon for D2. Here in the western US D2 is now dipping below $2/Gallon. It's no $1.50 like gas is getting these days but $2/Gallon Diesel is pretty darn nice. My last fill a week ago was for $2.04/Gallon.
